Increase the population of turtle doves in Italy Ambiti territoriali di Caccia uses hunting funds to pay farmers to maintain winter stubble. Hunting banned during the breeding period. Annual bag statistics collected. National ringing schemes are implemented to assess mortality rates. Hunters money used to pay farmers to maintain habitats that support turtle doves. Hunters voluntarily limit bag size. Hunters do not hunt during the breeding season.
