The setting aside of the Corbière forest for hunting has made it possible to create a reference site for monitoring woodcock. As part of a scientific study on woodcock in the Corbière forest, a site classified as a hunting and wildlife reserve, the Hunters Federation of Ile-et-Vilaine carried out a monitoring of the species on 626 ha of forest in order to establish an inventory of the situation and allow for developments favourable to woodcock.

The counts and monitoring of woodcocks were carried out using pointing dogs. After defining a monitoring protocol and an initial status, the Federation defined a hunting abundance index to monitor the evolution of wintering woodcock populations.
