Since 2013, the hare has been the subject of a departmental management plan. The species is monitored annually by the Hunters Federation of Eure-et-Loir using the “Kilometric Abundance Index” method throughout the department.  290 municipalities representing 318,600 hectares are subject to the first level of the management plan.

This first level should make it possible to develop populations. The principle of allocating and marking hunted hares is used to boost population dynamics. The second level of management does not provide for any allocation or marking system.

The objective of this second level is to stabilize or reduce populations. 112 municipalities representing 130,000 hectares are concerned by this second level.
