The Foundation for the Protection of Wildlife Habitats has been organising clean-up projects throughout the Loire every year for the past seven years, in collaboration with the departmental hunters’ federations. Waste is collected in the river and on the banks.
Since 2016 the operation has been extended to other rivers (Seine, Allier, Vienne, Creuse, Cher, Loir…), under a new brand “Clean Rivers”. 16 departments were involved, gathering more than 2500 volunteers (hunters, fishermen, local residents, bargemen… More than 550 m3 of waste was collected. Budget 2016: nearly 58000 E with the participation of various sponsors.
