Restoration and management of Domaine de Pachan wetlands in Gironde

The Domaine de Pachan has a diversity of natural habitats that are very favourable to many bird species. The site is home to a rich and diverse fauna e.g. white stork (Ciconia ciconia), common spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia), pied avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta), common redshank (Tringa totanus), western osprey (Pandion haliaetus) etc. Hunters have undertaken major work to restore the environment. 3 ponds were created (15 ha) and by using earthworks permanent wetland was restored.
