The Chateauneuf site is an important wintering area in the Brittany for Eurasian teal with an average of 1500 individuals per year.
As part of the Nature Contract with Brittany on the Black Marsh from Saint-Coulban to Chateauneuf-d’Ille-et-Vilaine, and in order to improve knowledge of the movements of this species, the Hunters Federation of Ille-et-Vilaine has integrated the national ringing programme on the Eurasian teal, managed by the National Office of Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS).
The objective is to capture about thirty birds that will be ringed on their legs and marked with a numbered nasal saddle allowing them to be identified even from far distance.
