As part of the internship programme at FDC 22 – Fédération des chasseurs des Côtes d’Armor a new FDC intern (Alexis BTS GPN) was tasked with leading a “Discovering Pollinators” outing at the famous Maison de la TERRE* where 5 beehives are installed.
The Participants were first provided with a nice walk across the 3.5 hectares woodland site with stops along the way.
During his presentation, participants were able to discover the role of the FDC22 in this natural space, including the implementation of scientific monitoring (propagation, pollinator nests…).
After theory, time for practice! Children and adults participated in the different stages of extracting summer honey back at the main nature house.
Policy Relevance
Every week, hunters and hunting organizations are providing workshops, education camps, nature outings, field days all over Europe. They are introducing the next generation to the importance of our precious ecosystem and biodiversity. They are supporting huntable and non-huntable species in Europe through habitat management, providing or improving nesting sites for all species. The research work done in the Cotes d’Amour region is one more example of the hard and fruitful work that hunters and hunting organizations make for the conservation of all species, thereby contributing to the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.

Located in a wetland on 3.5 hectares of wooded areas, the natural space is rich in fauna and flora specific to these environments that it is essential to preserve. It is also a place for walking open to the public where many activities are held around the issue of biodiversity, water and the impact of humans on the environment.
Since 2022, and following a Call for Expressions of Interest, more than 15 partners (associations and professionals) take turns throughout the year to offer you workshops or outings related to nature or waste reduction. FDC 22 – Fédération des chasseurs des Côtes d’Armor is one of the 15 important partners.
